Earlier this year, I had the pleasure of working with a gorgeous bride called Bex, who had a gorgeous wedding with a vintage theme, which was held at the beautiful Ston Easton Hotel in Somerset.
When I met Bex at her makeup trial I was so excited about being part of her wedding as she told me all about the fine details of her wedding, which sounded so fabulous as I love weddings with a vintage theme. Her attention to detail certainly paid off, as you can also see from the wedding photographers blog: http://www.bigbouquet.co.uk/photography/ston-easton-park-hotel-bath-wedding-photography/2011/03/
Bex wanted a makeup look which was flawless and was all about the eyelashes and eyeliner. We didn’t go for ‘full on’ vintage red lips – we toned the lip colour down slightly (which I find that most brides prefer).
If you love this makeup look, here are my top tips to re-create something similar for your own wedding day:
1) Keep the foundation flawless with a medium coverage foundation and make sure you cover any blemishes after with a long lasting concealer, followed with a setting on loose powder.
2) Chisel the cheekbones with a neutral toned, matte blusher
3) Define the brows softly and with the eyeshadows, do not use any bright colours – stick to a pale colour from lash line to brow bone and add a matte brown colour to the contour.
4) Line with a lquid/ gel black eyeliner – don’t go too heavy with a ‘flick’ at the outer corner, as weddings can be emotional days and you don’t want the liner to smudge or appear less perfect later in the day.
5) Rather than using false strip lashes, I used individual ‘clusters’, which look a lot more natural than ’strip’ lashes and you don’t have to worry about the corner of the strip lifting towards the end of the day!
6) Go easy on lip gloss – the vintage makeup look really is more about more of a matte lip. If you cannot go without your gloss, just pat a tiny amount of gloss to the centre of the lower lip.
