GUERLAIN TERRA AZZURRA BY EMILIO PUCCI – the ultimate in luxury makeup for a bride

Monday, May 7th, 2012

GUERLAIN TERRA AZZURRA BY EMILIO PUCCI
2012

Guerlain and Emilio Pucci are joining forces to celebrate a glamorous and colourful summer.
“Guerlain by Emilio Pucci” embodies the union of two prestigious Houses in perfect synergy. Emilio Pucci, the Florentine fashion brand whose cult prints have been evoking Italian colour and a refined way of life since the fifties. And Guerlain, the jewel of French cosmetics, whose creations have represented Parisian luxury, knowhow and excellence since 1828. These rich worlds are combining in a collection of eleven products with accents of the Italian Riviera, created by Olivier Échaudemaison, Guerlain Creative Director, and Laudomia Pucci, Pucci Image Director.
Anyone who loves their fashion will know how iconic the Pucci brand is and I am always writing about how much I love Guerlain products and when I saw this collection I was so excited! I know how much my brides love to treat themselves to special products/ treats on their wedding day and this collection, to me is one that brides will absolutely adore, as not only are you receiving amazing quality cosmetics, the fact that the packaging/ pouches are in the iconic Pucci print is the ultimate in luxury cosmetics and fashion! Here are the details of these gorgeous products (which I believe will become collectors editions) :
TERRA AZZURRA BRONZING POWDER & BLUSH £51.00 / €68.00
The SUMMER’S couture powder
The star of the collection, this exquisitely beautiful object combines two success stories: Guerlain’s legendary Terracotta powder and Emilio Pucci’s iconic prints. The world of beauty and fashion unite in a single case to beautifully enhance a seductive woman. Undoubtedly a collector’s item in the making.
A SUN-KISSED powder
Halfway between a bronzer and blusher, this hybrid powder with a gentle, lightweight formula offers a universal harmony of four shades to meet every desire, from the softest to the most intense.
• For a natural effect: apply just the bronzing shade all over the face.
• For a bronzed complexion: blend the three blusher shades and sweep along the top
of the cheekbones to sculpt the face.
A DESIGN-forward case
Smooth and oval like a pebble, it is held delicately in the palm of the hand. Its secret? Its rounded form created in ebony-coloured varnished wood, a nod to the panelling of a Riva yacht, combining beauty and practicality in equal measure. For the ultimate in sophistication, it is presented in an accessory pouch printed with the Pucci motif.
MÉTÉORITES PERLES D’AZUR ILLUMINATING POWDER £37.00 / €48.00
TAN-perfecting powder
These cult must-have multi-coloured little pearls created by Guerlain in 1987 are adopting their summer attire. In a nod to Pucci shades, they are being enriched with a corrective blue pearl. All the magic of an ingenious powder, the unequalled formula for a flawless complexion.
A LUMINOUS complexion
Formulated like the classic Météorites Perles, the Perles d’Azur beautifully adapt to the demands of the sun. The idea? Three targeted and instant benefits to create a summer glow, thanks to the combination of six colours that even out and correct every skin tone, with a de rigueur ultra-luminous and delicately translucent result. Already tanned skin is subtly set off with a fine complexion-enhancing and imperceptible veil.
BOOSTER
• Corrective effect: blue and pink counter the yellow tones in tired complexions.
• Skin-evening effect: beige and orange warm up the complexion and create an even tan.
• Illuminating effect: ivory and white gold are light reflectors without a whitening effect.
Their incredibly stylish round case is adorned with the Pucci print in contrasting colours with a graphic motif.
The COLLECTOR’S brush £28.00 / €34.00

An elegant firm and generous Kabuki-style powder brush designed to subtly crush
the Météorites Perles d’Azur pigments or pick up just the right amount of Terra
Azzurra Powder. Its broad metallic ring encircling its natural midnight blue bristles
adds a chic detail. It is stored in its on-trend Pucci print pouch that is perfectly in
line with summer’s glamorous tone.

TERRACOTTA NAIL LAQUER

£17.50 / €22.00

Two bold, fresh shades that stand out against a sky blue background. Irresistible on short, groomed nails and worn unmatching on hands and feet, these peppy polishes are a must-have fashion touch to complement a two-piece swimsuit or an ethereal cocktail dress.
• 01 Paradisio: a cheery, luminous coral pink with a high-lacquer finish. Unfailingly sublime on tanned fingers.
• 02 Riviera: a powerful electric indigo blue with a subtly metallic finish. Pure rock ‘n’ roll
on golden toes.
Their round, transparent bottles are topped with a black lacquered wood lid for
a restrained touch of elegance.
TERRACOTTA MOISTURISING GLOSS £21.00 / €27.50
Three sunny harmonies for these radiant glosses with a fresh gourmand syrup texture to light up the lips with sensual high shine.
Three shades and three names taken from three iconic Pucci silk scarves.
• 10 Porto Fino: an incredibly shiny coral pink to set off a sun-kissed glow to perfection.
• 11 Porto Ercole: a sensual brown to pair with a spice-toned complexion.
• 12 Porto Azzurro: an unruly indigo blue, as transparent on the lips as it is vibrant
in the bottle.
ÉCRIN 4 COULEURS £37.00 / €51.00
A blazing palette in delectably warm tones, whose four shades allow a host of combinations, from the softest to the hottest, to play with colour and electrify the eyes against golden skin.
Its exclusive sophisticated metallic brown case beautifully sets off this summer harmony.

LE 2 DE GUERLAIN MASCARA

£25.00 / €34.00

The iconic Mascara le 2 de Guerlain has been produced in new packaging with a chocolate lacquer finish for a unique and stylish touch. This season, it is embracing summer with this elegant blue that opens up the eyes and offers the lashes bold length and curl and incredible definition
KHÔL KAJAL £23.00 / €32.00
This intense kohl is returning for summer in an indigo blue.
• Applied solely along the inside of the lower eyelid, it underlines and enhances the eyes with a provocative depth.
• Worked in a thick line along the upper lashes, it adds modern sophistication and widens the eyes.
In an exquisite touch, the brown lid is decorated with two fine ribbons – one in indigo blue, the other coral – in the Guerlain style.

Are you getting married abroad? Here are some makeup hints and tips for you:

Wedding makeup that will withstand heat!

I often give bridal makeup lessons for brides who are getting married abroad and want to apply their own wedding makeup.

The photographs in this post are from a beautiful wedding that I worked at in Malta last year – if anyone has been to Malta they will know how hot it is and because of this I had to make sure that I used the correct products.

If you are a bride getting married abroad and are applying your own wedding makeup, here are some hints and tips for you to help when purchasing your bridal makeup products:

Use moisturisers with a light formulation:
Don’t overload your skin with moisturisers that are too oily – by all means use an eye cream if your eyes are dry, but on the rest of your face use and oil free moisturiser. If you are in hot weather and you do start to perspire, having a moisturiser that is too oily will make your foundation ’slide’ off your skin.

After your moisturiser, apply a silicone based primer:
After you have applied your light moisturiser, it is essential to apply a primer to give your foundation something to ‘grab’ to and also to help your foundation look perfect for longer. I love silicone based primers, as not only to they give the perfect base for foundation, they also help to ‘blur’ fine lines and wrinkles which makes the skin look better, therefore you can use less foundation. (Also look for a primer with a SPF as it will protect your skin in the sun).

Do not use thick foundations – opt for a tinted moisturiser or a light coverage foundation:
Even if you like to wear a full coverage foundation on a daily basis, if you are getting married in the heat a thick foundation will slide off your skin within hours. Use a pretty, light foundation over your face and should you still be worried about any imperfections, cover them after with a long-lasting concealer.

Make sure you have the correct shade of foundation:
Before you purchase your foundation, consider what your skin tone will be on the wedding day. Will you be spending much time at the location abroad before you actually get married? If the answer is yes, then do consider if you will have more of a tan on the wedding day than you do now. If you are likely to be more tanned, please take this in to account when purchasing your foundation. By opting for a lighter foundation it will make this dilemma easier, as sheerer formulations are more forgiving and you will find that your tan will glow through the tint of the foundation/ tinted moisturiser.

Use powder to keep shine at bay:
You should use a blotting powder where needed to set your makeup and make sure that you carry a compact with you to blot away any excess shine during the day.

Use a waterproof silicone blusher:
Choose a blusher which isn’t going to melt/ slide off the skin – Daniel Sandler’s iconic Watercolour Fluid Blusher is still the best on the market.

Don’t use too much shimmer:
A little bit of shimmer is fine, but don’t overdo the sparkle in your makeup as this will look way too shiny in your wedding photographs with the bright sunlight

Use waterproof / long-lasting formulations wherever possible:
Mascaras
Eyeliners
Crease-proof eyeshadows
Lipsticks

Most importantly – keep it natural and pretty!
Remember that the makeup you would wear for a night out, is not the makeup you should be wearing for a day time, hot wedding. Bright daylight is not the most flattering light to be photographed in and if you apply your makeup too heavy, it will not look good in your photographs – especially after a few hours in the heat! Think light, pretty, fresh natural colours which will enhance a tan and will photograph well in daylight.

And if you are getting married abroad – have a wonderful wedding day!

One of my favourite EVER lip plumping/ lip products – COLLIN RESULTIME 3D Lip Balm

Monday, February 20th, 2012

Collin 3D Lip Balm

As a result of advanced research, the 3D Lip Balm is a complete treatment formulated to prolong your lips beauty and youthfulness.

For the 1st step, it nourishes, repairs damaged and weakened lips.

For the 2nd step, it smoothes out wrinkles and fine lines thanks to the Micro-Pumpling Spheres action that fills in the furrows.

For the 3rd step, the Maxi-Lip contributes to an increase in lip volume.

The more the volume, the lesser the fine lines and wrinkles… Discover our appealing and high quality formula for ultra seductive lips.

I cannot get ENOUGH of this product – since I first tried it a few months ago, I haven’t wanted to use anything else. I LOVE lip plumping products – but most of them are of a gloss type consistency, so you tend to only want to wear them during the day as a lip gloss, then I would use a lip balm in the evening to improve the condition of my lips.

When I first tried this product, there was no sting at all (so I really didn’t expect any plumping effect), but it did feel like the most luxurious lip treatment, which felt gorgeous. The biggest suprise though was when I woke in the morning, not only had my lips had the moisturising treatment I expected, my lips were noticably plumped up – with no stinging! I am a total convert to this product now (as well as many other COLLIN RESULTIME products) – it is amazing.

15 ml tube

Use: Apply to the lips and lip contour, with light smoothing movements. Make-up may be immediately applied.

Please note that Collin products are only available from specialised beauty professionals and should only be purchased after you have had a consultation with one of their qualified therapists

CHANEL Spring/Summer 2012 Show Backstage Images – gorgeous makeup inspiration for a bride!

2012 Spring-Summer Ready-to-Wear Show Makeup

Interview with Peter Philips

Creative Director of Chanel Makeup

What was your inspiration to create the make up of this show? Did Karl Lagerfeld give you a brief?

To meet the inspiration of this fantastic underwater fairytale feeling and the mood of lightness, Karl wanted shine and pearl. He made some beautiful sketches where the girls had pearl studded ears and pearls following the spine.

Where was the focus?

The focus was on luminosity, purity and a touch of humour. I did pale, glowy skin with a pink/coral blush, a wet shiny eyelid finished with black eyeliner, slightly glossy lips and randomly placed pearl piercings. Some girls had a pearl spine.

Can you describe it and tell us the products you used?

For skin I used Vitalumière Aqua Ultra Light Skin Perfecting Makeup Cream Compacts. For the eyes I used Stylo Yeux Waterproof Long-lasting Eyeliner inEbène, Mascara Inimitable Waterproof in Black, Le Crayon Khôl Intense Eye Pencil in Clair and two shades of Illusion d’Ombre Long Wear Luminous Eyeshadow - Fantasme and Emerveillé.

For the cheeks I used Blush Horizon de CHANEL. On the lips I used Rouge Coco Baume and Lèvres Scintillantes Glossimer in Plaisir.

Is there a specific product that you particularly developed, or enjoyed using for this makeup look?

I created a white, pearl nail polish exclusively for the show and for the more “colourful” passages I used three nail polish shades called April, May and June. All three shades come out next Spring.

Do you have some professional tips or tricks to share with us?

This is a very accessible, wearable look that is easy to apply and flattering for most women. The balance between shine and matte, topped with a hint of colour, is a perfect way to float into Spring 2012.

This is a list of the products used – I think this is such a pretty, feminine look which would look so beautiful on any bride

What are Hybrids?

Hybrids are high performance treatments specifically formulated to improve skin health blended with a skin perfecting cosmetic to disguise flaws. This new, innovative line from Murad features two eye treatments designed to firm, brighten and conceal as well as two skin perfecting primers to minimise pores, in a dewy and a matte finish. Each of these intelligently engineered formulas combine two high performance technologies into a single convenient 2-in-1 problem solver.

What is unique about Hybrids products?

Hybrids offer the perfect marriage of advanced skin treatment technologies and premium cosmetics. This unique combination gives these 2-in-1 problem solvers the power to let you simultaneously treat and mask your skin concerns.

Hybrid Eye Lifts include 5x Firming Technology to visibly lift; Re-Luminate Complex to provide both instant and long term dark circle reduction and the Smart Moisture System to hydrate and depuff.

Hybrid Skin Perfecting Primers feature Pore Factor-5 which minimizes the appearance of pores as it balances oil production. These performance primers also feature Adaptive Shade Technology to create a perfect skin tone match.

What products are in the Hybrids Line?

Eye Lift Illuminator

Instantly brighten and firm the skin around the eyes. This illuminating violet formula brightens the eye area and increases skin firmness by 50% in 15 minutes. Hydrate, depuff and minimise dark circles to rapidly restore a youthful look to the eye. (£25.00 / €32.50)

Eye Lift Perfector

Increase firmness by 50% in 15 minutes with this natural tint formula that evens skin texture and tone. Hydrate, depuff and minimise dark circles to rapidly restore a youthful look to the eye. (£25.00 / €32.50)

Skin Perfecting Primer Dewy Finish

Skin Perfecting Primer Matte Finish

These products are new ‘kit box’ must haves for me – I’ve been a fan of Murad skincare for a long time, so I was really excited about the new launch of Hybrid makeup. I love all the products – especially the eye products – amazing concealers/ treatments which lighten and brighten the eyes beautifully.

The primers are also gorgeous under foundations – or, if your younger bridesmaids want their skin to look fresher but not ‘made up’ on your wedding day, it will give their skin a fresh radiance and more of an even complexion.

Murad products and treatments are available from leading salons and spas nationwide. For stockist enquiries and mail order call 0844 472 7050 or visit www.murad.co.uk.

The new Daniel Sandler Invisible Radiance Foundation and Concealer – complexion perfection for all brides!

Friday, November 25th, 2011

The New Daniel Sandler Invisible Radiance Foundation and Concealer (£28)

The next generation of cosmetics has arrived!

And all brides-to-be who are looking for the PERFECT bridal foundation – look no further!

One of the UK’s best known makeup artists, Daniel Sandler is delighted to announce the latest edition to his existing cosmetics line; a foundation and concealer duo that invisibly transforms skin, delivering a clearer, smoother, more flawless, younger-looking finish (that cares!)

Used alone, the dewy-fresh fluid foundation feels as light as a feather on skin. Accompanied by a complimenting shade of concealer under the mirrored lid, this is your perfect weapon to disguise either under-eye darkness or blemishes. The duo forms the perfect partnership, avoiding the chore of hunting down a match to your base.

Daniel’s ingenious trick is to mix the foundation with the concealer for a more sophisticated finish, ideal for that day to night transition

Both formulas wear beautifully throughout the day, maintaining coverage for many hours, with added ingredients to keep all skin types soft, smooth, and healthy.

Invisible Veil foundation has a ‘caring cocktail’ of vitamins A, C & E to aid skin repair and renewal. The formula is Perfume, Oil and Paraben free.

The concealer has added Vitamin E as an Antioxidant and is also preservative and perfume free

I am known for the flawless, radiant skin I create for my brides on their wedding day and I am incredibly fussy about the formulations I choose to use. The excitement of opening this new bottle and first feeling the creamy (yet not greasy) texture of the concealer had me rushing to try the foundation itself and I can only describe the feeling and quality of this product as sophisticated, flawless and the dewy finish is like adding a youthful glow to your skin – this really is going to be the 2012 foundation for brides everywhere!

The model in the photograph above is wearing the Invisible Radiance Foundation and Concealer – I used it recently in a photo shoot.

If you love the look of her makeup, you can also re-create this whole bridal look, using Daniel Sandler Cosmetics – here is your step-by-step guide:

I applied the Re-texturising Primer all over the face to help the makeup stay flawless for longer.

Next, I took the new Invisible Radiance Foundation and Concealer and applied this pretty, dewy base all over the skin using the Base Brush and using the Concealer Brush, applied the Concealer where needed.

I then used the Watercolour Creme Rouge Bronzer in shade Riviera and applied to the cheekbones (using my fingers) and then applied the Watercolour Creme Rouge Blusher in shade Hush Pink to the apple of the cheeks to give the model her pretty bridal glow.

To set the makeup, I applied a small amount of the Invisible Blotting Powder using the Contour/Powder Brush to the T-Zone and the eyelids (to prevent eyeshadow from creasing).

To achieve the pretty, fresh eyes I created on the cover model, use three of the Sheer Satin Shadows. Using Eyeshadow Brush 1, apply Guilded Taupe from lash line to the contour and using the Smudger Brush, apply a small amount to the lower lashline. Then apply shade Champagne to the centre of the lid using Eyeshadow Brush 2 and then apply a tiny amount of shade Lingerie to the brow bone as a highlighter.

I applied the Velvet Waterproof Eyeliner in shade Velvet Brownto the upper lashline to give definition and to complete the look, I curled the lashes and applied several coats of the Baby Jet Mascarato the upper lashes, and one coat to the lower lashline.

For a gorgeous bridal pout, I used theLip Rouge in shade Dolce and for a pretty shine, I applied the Super Gloss in shade Super Pomegranate

Available in 4 shades:  Porcelain, Beige, Honey, Deep Sand
