A fantastic concealer from LANCOME that is long lasting and can be used under eyes and on imperfections

Monday, January 2nd, 2012

It isn’t often that you find a concealer that can be used not just under the eyes, but also on any other imperfections such as blemishes or redness. I have found such a concealer from Lancome, which is now a regular item in my kit box.

EFFACERNES (long-lasting softening concealer) blurs fine lines and reduces shadows around the eyes instantly for smooth, more even looking results that truly last. Its soft, fine texture uses a light-diffusing technology to soften facial lines and brighten dull, tired-looking skin. Enriched with cornflower and camomile, it gives your skin an instant feeling of well-being.

This tube of concealer lasts such a long time, as you only need to use a small amount. I apply a tiny amount of this product to the back of my hand and after foundation I can apply this under the eyes using a concealer brush (I then gently smooth the product using my ring finger) and then with the product left over, use it to then cover any other imperfections. It’s such a unique formulation – it isn’t too greasy, isn’t too dry and it lasts all day.

Another top tip is that you can mix it on the back of your hand with a little of your foundation and gently ‘pat’ on the cheek area to cover any redness, then follow with a setting of face powder.

The RRP of this product is £20.45 which I think is so reasonable, considering the quality of the product and how long it lasts.

Vintage wedding makeup – get the look

Friday, November 4th, 2011

This is a makeup look that I created on a photo shoot that I did a few years ago with the amazing photographer www.rosieparsons.com

This is the step-by-step guide of all of the products that I used:

Products used: After using Lancome skincare to prepare the skin, to create this look I used Daniel Sandler Cosmetics – here is the list of the Daniel Sandler products that I used:

Re-texturising Face Primer, Catwalk Compact (applied with Base Brush) in shade 1, Hide It Under Eye Concealer shade 3, Camo Cover Concealer shade 2 (applied with concealer brush), Invisible Blotting Powder (applied with contour/powder brush), Mineral Matte Blushers in shades Rose Bud, Hush Pink and Natural Beauty (applied with Blusher Brush), Opal Mineral Eyeshadow (apply using Eyeshadow Brush No.1), Tornado Matte Eyeshadow (apply using Smudger Brush), Eye Delight Loose Eyeshadows in shades Ice and Pink Gold (use eyeshadow Brush 2) Eye Love it in shade Rock Chick (as a liquid eyeliner, apply with Lip Brush). LANCOME HYDRA INTENSE mask – a 5 minute mask that gives amazing results!

Tuesday, September 6th, 2011

HYDRA INTENSE  mask by Lancome – the ’quick fix’ treatment mask I use when time limited and my skin is thirsty!

Lancôme’s Hydra Intense offers a treatment in which to indulge, combining natural ingredients with Lancôme’s advanced technology. Dreamy texture, softer and more effective than ever – it is completely irresistible!

Hydrating Gel mask with natural water captors

Thirsty skin needs help and fast and that’s why Lancôme has created a mask that instantly hydrates skin.  The highly effective formula is based on Imperata cylindrica extract, a sub-tropical plant from the Southern Hemisphere known for its incredible ability to withstand the most abnormal drought conditions. By capturing and fixing water in the upper layers of the epidermis, it shades away fine lines caused by dehydration and helps the skin to maximise its level of natural hydration.

There are many clients who ask me to recommend products that are quick and effective, as they are so busy with work and planning their wedding and don’t have time to use treatments which take a long time to work.

This product by Lancome gives a bath of hydration to ‘quench the thirst’ of even the most dehydrated skin. This mask helps the skin to maximise its level of natural hydration. It is so easy to use – all you need to do is apply a thick layer to clean, dry skin. Leave for 5 minutes, then remove the surplus product with a tissue (do not rinse). Your skin will feel velvety smooth, fresh and drenched in water and after 8 hours, the level of skin hydration is still at its best.

For a more intense treatment, I sometimes leave this product on overnight.

HYDRA INTENSE – for normal to combination skin £31.65 for 100ml

New from Lancôme – the gorgeous Hypnôse Doll Eyes Mascara

Friday, July 15th, 2011

If you are looking for a mascara that creates gorgeous, big lashes and gives a lash extension effect, you must try the new Hypnôse Doll Eyes Mascara from Lancôme, which is launched this month.

Lancôme created this amazing mascara for girls who want separated, thick, long, “nylon-shine” lashes. Thanks to its unique wand and an all-new formula, Hypnôse Doll Eyes lives up to its promise, creating the ultimate lash fringe and beautifully wide-opened eyes.

This mascara is absolutely gorgeous and will give you huge, glossy lashes – have a look at the Lancôme website, they have created a fabulous peice on the website all about this mascara (I love it as it is so ‘girly’) – click here: http://www.lancome.co.uk/hypnose-doll-eyes/index.aspx

The wand and the formula make this product so special:

A new-generation wand:

Lancôme’s Research Laboratories worked for 7 years to perfect the ideal wand, the patented Iconical Brush. The nylon, conical brush tip combines separating power with nylon charge, as well as offering a level of suppleness to rival an elastomer brush. It enables the formula to capture every lash, even the shortest ones in the corner of the eye, sculpting and lengthening them, creating a defined and perfectly separated lash fringe.

A never-before seen formula:

For the perfect “doll-eyes” lash look, the “Fiber Shine” formula is enriched with nylon powders to adorn lashes with a subtle sheen. It combines supple as well as hard waxes; the former to build volume and the latter to fix lash curve. The smooth formula glides effortlessly along each lash, instantly coating and amplifying from root to tip. Finally the “Ultrastretch” complex, formulated around lengthening polymers, creates an instant “lash extension” effect.

The effect that this mascara gives is stunning – it really is the best mascara that I have used that gave me the effect that I had a few years ago when I had lash extensions – definitely a ‘kit box essential’ from now on, for my brides who want the ‘lash extension look’ on their lashes.

Get the makeup look – Rainbow Couture 2011

Sunday, July 10th, 2011

Last year, I was the makeup artist for the Rainbow Couture 2011 campaign – an exciting shoot shot in a gorgeous location house in London.

Rainbow shoes have several ranges of shoes and the Couture range is an exciting and glamorous new range of shoes, inspired by the allure of the catwalk. The collection combines sensual silk satin and shimmering crystals, with contemporary fashion and beautiful detailing.

Couture-67

If you are a bride who loves a modern makeup look and wants to re-create the striking makeup look I designed for this campaign, these are the products I used:

1) After applying a light moisturiser to the skin, I applied the Daniel Sandler Re-texturising Primer all over the face.

2) I created a flawless complexion using Chanel Pro Lumiere Foundation, followed with the Lancome Effacernes Concealer to cover any imperfections and I set the base using the Daniel Sandler Blotting Powder.

3) On the cheeks, I used one colour of blusher – a small amount of the Daniel Sandler pressed blusher in shade whisper was enough for a gentle glow (don’t use too much though, as the eyes and lips are the main part of this look)

4) The eyes were strong for this look – I used the Lancome Ombre Absolu Duo eyeshadow in shade G01 and I applied the light shade to the brow bone and the soft black shadow to the eyelid. Top tip – when applying black eyeshadow, hold a tissue under your eye to catch any ‘drop down’ and always apply a small amount first and build up to get the intensity you want. Line the eyes using the Daniel Sandler Velvet Waterproof Eyeliner is shade Black Velvet – I lined the eye along the top lash line, the bottom lash line and also in the inner lower rim (avoid the inner rim if you want the look to be more natural).

5) Mascara – always black – I used the Estee Lauder Double Wear Zero Smudge Lengthening  Mascara

6) To complete this look, I used the Daniel Sandler High Impact Lipstick in Peony on the lips, but rather than applying it with a lip brush, I patted it on to the lips with my finger, so it created more of a soft stain of colour.

Get the makeup look – Joyce Jackson Veils

Sunday, May 22nd, 2011

Last year, I created the makeup look for the Joyce Jackson Veils 2011 Collection.

The collection of veils are gorgeous - there are so many to choose from, all in different styles and lengths.

If you love the makeup look in these photographs, here is a step-by-step guide so that you can re-create the look on your wedding day:

The makeup brief was a sophisticated bridal makeup look – if you are going to create smokey eyes on your wedding day, it is essential that your skin is flawless and any blemishes are hidden.

1)Start with a primer, the Daniel Sandler Re-texturising Primer is great.

2)For foundation, apply the Lancome Apply Teint Miracle Foundation all over your face for a gorgeous, light finish to your complexion and cover any imperfections using the Effacernes Concealer.

3)Set your base using the Daniel Sandler Blotting Powder.

4)For cheeks, I used two blushers – the Daniel Sandler Mineral Matte Blusher in shade Rose Bud (apply higher on the cheekbone, out towards the hair line) and then, on the apple of the cheek, apply the Daniel Sandler Watercolour Liquid Blush in shade Cherub.

5)To create this sophisticated smokey eye, take the SUQQU Blend Eyeshadow palette in shade 04 SHUNBOKU, as it is perfect for creating a bridal smokey eye. It has a neutral shade which is a great base and a pretty pink (subtle) shimmer which goes on the lid and brow bone. A medium grey tone creates the perfect contour and a darker grey can be used as an eyeliner to define the eye. You can build this darker grey shade up, to create a more intense smokey eye if you wish. If you love your eyeliner, you can always apply the Daniel Sandler Velvet Waterproof Eyeliner in shade Grey Velvet across the top and bottom lash line and then apply the shadow over the top to set the eyeliner (this will give you a more striking look).

6)Curl your eyelashes and apply the Clinique Lash Power Mascara (long wearing formula).

7)For lips, apply the Estee Lauder Pure Color Long Lasting Lipstick in shade Crystal Rose (creme texture).

‘Liquid Mirror’ makeup primer from Lancome – a beautiful bridal product

Tuesday, March 22nd, 2011

The Eclat Miracle Serum of Light Universal Radiance Booster is known as the ‘Liquid Mirror’ makeup primer, due to the beautiful effect it gives to the complexion.

It really is a special product – you can use it every day if you don’t want to wear foundation, to give the skin a gorgeous, dewy glow.

You can also use it as a primer under makeup, to make the skin look ‘more perfect’ before you start applying makeup.

Or, my favourite way of using this product is to use it as a highlighter, to add touches of light to specific areas of the face.

To do this, after I have applied foundation, I take a small amount of this product (a little goes a long way) and I mix any foundation left on the back of my hand and apply this to the cheekbones, which gives the skin a beautiful glow, without being too shimmery (which will stand out with flash photography).

It’s a beautiful product that can be used in many different ways.

RRP £19.50, find out more at www.lancome.co.uk

Get the makeup look – Sassi Holford 2011 Collection

Friday, March 18th, 2011

I’ve been a big Sassi Holford fan for a long time – her bridal gowns and designs are simply stunning, so I was so excited to be asked to be the makeup artist for her 2011 collection.

The photographer was the fabulous Simon Powell and the images we created on the day truly showcased Sassi’s gorgeous gowns – I am delighted with the results.

If you love this makeup look, here are the products that I used, so that you can create something similar on your wedding day. The brief for this look was soft, smokey eyes and a natural toned cheek/ lip.

1)You need a flawless look to the skin – after applying primer, I used Chanel Pro Lumiere to give the beautiful model even more of a flawless complexion. A great under eye concealer is the Lancome Teint Miracle Concealer, apply on top of your foundation.

2)Set your base with the Daniel Sandler Invisible Blotting Powder.

3)To give a natural tone to the cheeks, I used the Daniel Sandler Mineral Matte Blush in shade Natural Beauty.

4)The eyes had a soft, smokey look which I created using the SUQQU blend eyeshadow palette in shade 04, which contains 4 eyeshadows – you can use 2,3 or 4 of these colours, depending on how smokey you want your eye makeup look to be. There are different tones of grey eyeshadows, plus a highlighter and a great matte base.

5) Also apply a black waterproof mascara for a wedding day makeup and don’t forget to curl your upper lashes first.

6)To compliment your cheek colour (and not overpower your eyes), the perfect lipstick and gloss is the Daniel Sandler Luxury Lipstick in shade Goddess and the Super Gloss in shade Super Nectar.
