For the ultimate in luxury on your wedding day – the Creme de la Mer Skincolor collection

Tuesday, March 1st, 2011

If you are looking to treat yourself on your wedding day and want the most beautiful foundation and concealer, you must have a look at the Creme de la Mer Skincolor collection.

Creme de la Mer already has a loyal following with it’s iconic skincare and now brides can also indulge themselves with luxurious formulations in their wedding day makeup.

The Creme de la Mer Skincolour collection contains various foundations, concealers and powders which not only look fabulous on the skin, but also contain premium skincare properties, so you continue to look after your skin with the makeup that you wear – rather than using expensive skincare products and then perhaps using a makeup product which doesn’t continue the good work!

There are several products in the range (which are all beautiful), but two of my current favourite products from the Skincolor collection are:

THE TREATMENT POWDER FOUNDATION SPF15:

This luxurious, lightweight powder is infused with gemstones which capture light to reveal a naturally flawless complexion. You can apply a fine layer of powder of build it up for more coverage (rrp £66).

THE RADIANT CONCEALER SPF 25:

Apply this product with your fingers or with the brush supplied. It is a treatment cream that optically corrects dark circles and blemishes to create a naturally flawless finish (rrp £46).

The Skincolor Collection delivers exactly what you would expect from Creme de la Mer – exquisite ingredients, beautiful packaging and fantastic results. As with all Creme de la Mer products, a little goes a long way.

The product I can never be without in my kit box – the Creme de la Mer Lip Balm

Tuesday, December 21st, 2010

There is one product that I have had again and again in my kit box for years, that I use on EVERY client (from real life brides to professional models) – the Creme de la Mer Lip Balm.

As soon as I apply the product, clients ask me “what did you use on my lips”? It it feels so luxurious on the lips and when you apply it, your lips look and feel amazing. So many of my clients have gone away and purchased themselves one of these, as they adore the feeling of this product on the lips.

Yes, you can purchase cheaper lip balms from the high street – but what makes this product so special, compared to less expensive brands?

Thinner than any area on the face, the lips are virtually defensive against subtle changes in wind, temperature and dryness. The Lip Balm infuses a potent concentration of the original Miracle Broth with marine extracts, botanicals and vitamins to regenerate the delicate lip skin.

The luxurious emulsion works on contact to soften roughness, relieve dryness and flaking and help heal seriously dry lips. A patented Lip Lipid Complex is the first line of defense. It delivers moisture, strengthening the lips’ minimal moisture barrier and helping to prevent further damage. An essential protein found in the artic helps insulate vulnerable lip skin from extreme conditions on heat and cold. Mint comforts the lips and enhances the balm with a cool refreshing flavour (something my clients also comment on).

Like all Creme de la Mer products, the results are immediate – lips look younger, smoother, soft and plumper. There has never been a client who has not liked this product!

Priced at £36, this product will last ages and will get your lips looking gorgeous for your wedding day. It isn’t greasy, so you do not have to worry about your lipstick/ gloss ’sliding off’. It is perfect for this time of year, when the weather gets colder and the heating is on at home and work – this is when our lips can get dry and sore. This product really treats the lips, rather than just sitting on top of the lip area.

Get the look – Stewart Parvin

Wednesday, March 10th, 2010

The stunning new campaign from Stewart Parvin caught my eye when I was recently looking through Brides Magazine – it is beautiful and I wanted to talk about the beautiful makeup look, as I do think it is a wearable look for brides to re-create on their wedding day.

This beautiful campaign was shot in the Dorchester Hotel by photographer Rony Shram and this stunning makeup look was created by the wonderful Chase Aston, a makeup artist I have had the pleasure of working with in the past.

In 1996 Stewart Parvin launched his own collection and opened his Boutique in Knightsbridge. Stewart soon boasted an exclusive clientele ranging in age from 22 to 90, with many of his first season clients firm devotees a decade on. In 2000 he was asked to submit his sketches to Buckingham Palace and after immediate approval began designing some of the Queen’s most favoured outfits. He has since been commended for giving Her Majesty a fresher, lighter look and for creating some of her most eye-catching gowns to date. His work was included in the 2006 exhibition of Her Majesty’s dresses, ‘Dress for The Occasion’ at Buckingham Palace, and he was awarded an honorary fellowship of Edinburgh College of Art in their centenary year 2007. In the same year, Stewart received The Royal Warrant of Appointment to Her Majesty the Queen in recognition of his work.

Today, Stewart has a London studio from where he designs all his pieces and keeps a close eye on the creation of each garment. He works with a small team, using only the most luxurious fabrics, fantastically creative embroiderers and seamstresses, ensuring that great care and detail is put into all of his ranges. His fame in the fashion industry comes as a direct result of this attention to detail and his unique and tastefully classic designs.

If you adore this makeup look and would love to re-create something similar for your wedding day, follow these tips:

Foundation: this look requires an immaculate, flawless medium to full coverage foundation. Try Creme de la Mer the Powder Foundation (RRP £65 www.cremedelamer.co.uk)

Cheeks: To re-create the gorgeous pink glow that the model in this campaign has on her cheeks, try M.A.C. Powder Blush in Shade Frankly Scarlet (RRP £16.50 www.maccosmetics.co.uk)

Eyes: To make this as simple as possible, keep the eyeshadow to a minimum, use a clean matte vanilla shadow all over the eye area and get the impact by taking your time to apply a flawless, black liquid eyeliner – try the Shu Uemura Liquid Liner Pen (rrp £11, www.spacenk.co.uk). Curl your lashes and apply several coats of black, waterproof mascara and if you have the confidence, apply a few individual eyelashes to the outer corner of your top eyelashes.

Lips: As you can see from the photograph, the strongest part of this look is the lips. If you love this bold look, you can apply your lipstick with a lip brush to achieve full coverage. For a softer version, you can ‘pat’ the lipstick colour onto your lips using your finger, this will give you more of a wash of colour. Try the armanisilk lipstick in shade 10 (www.giorgioarmanibeauty.co.uk)
