Vitalumière Aqua Compact SPF 15
Fresh And Hydrating Cream Compact Makeup

A FINE, MELT-AWAY TEXTURE… A FRESH, MOISTURISED COMPLEXION

Specially formulated with 24% water, the luscious cream texture of VITALUMIÈRE AQUA Compact instantly delivers an incredible sensation of freshness. Created for normal to dry skin, this emulsion boasts an exceptionally fine quality and feel. It melts on the skin for comfort that lasts all day long. In perfect affinity with the skin, the featherweight texture of VITALUMIÈRE AQUA Compact recreates a second-skin effect. The complexion is natural and comfortable. It breathes freely.

I’ve been using this foundation and I absolutely love it – perfect for a bride (or anyone in the bridal party) who has normal to dry skin and is looking for a little more coverage, but doesn’t want the complexion to look dry and cakey. It comes with a little sponge applicator, but I actually love to apply it using a foundation brush and then finish the blending with fingertips.

It builds gradually to give a gorgeous, flawless look and every bride I have used it on absolutely loves it. Because it is in compact form, there is no liquid to worry about and it is really quick and easy to use. Gives a gorgeous, expensive look to the skin.

VITALUMIÈRE AQUA Compact contains emollient ingredients that preserve the skin’s natural moisturisation. Easy and rapid to apply, it reveals plumped skin that is soft to the touch and a complexion that stays fresh and even for up to 8 hours. VITALUMIÈRE AQUA Compact creates the perfect balance between hydration and radiance.

It provides medium coverage for a natural, velvety makeup result. Facial features are smoothed and the complexion glows all day long.

A COMPLEXION GLOWING WITH NATURAL BEAUTY

CHANEL used all of its light-mastering expertise for its new foundation. Enriched with soft focus pigments, VITALUMIÈRE AQUA Compact leaves a halo of light on the face. By completely controlling the reflection of light, it chases away imperfections and signs of fatigue.
VITALUMIÈRE AQUA Compact also contains other treasures. Coated pigments, Vitamin E and an SPF 15/PA++ protection index light up, revive and protect the skin while maintaining its natural beauty.

VITALUMIÈRE AQUA THE COMPACT: THE PERFECT COMPANION AT ALL TIMES
Compact, portable and ultra-practical, the refillable black case slips easily into a handbag for touch-ups throughout the day. The airtight packaging protects the water in the formula and preserves its freshness and quality. The ultra-soft, immaculate white sponge was specially designed for precise, gentle application.

Are you getting married abroad? Here are some makeup hints and tips for you:

Wedding makeup that will withstand heat!

I often give bridal makeup lessons for brides who are getting married abroad and want to apply their own wedding makeup.

The photographs in this post are from a beautiful wedding that I worked at in Malta last year – if anyone has been to Malta they will know how hot it is and because of this I had to make sure that I used the correct products.

If you are a bride getting married abroad and are applying your own wedding makeup, here are some hints and tips for you to help when purchasing your bridal makeup products:

Use moisturisers with a light formulation:
Don’t overload your skin with moisturisers that are too oily – by all means use an eye cream if your eyes are dry, but on the rest of your face use and oil free moisturiser. If you are in hot weather and you do start to perspire, having a moisturiser that is too oily will make your foundation ’slide’ off your skin.

After your moisturiser, apply a silicone based primer:
After you have applied your light moisturiser, it is essential to apply a primer to give your foundation something to ‘grab’ to and also to help your foundation look perfect for longer. I love silicone based primers, as not only to they give the perfect base for foundation, they also help to ‘blur’ fine lines and wrinkles which makes the skin look better, therefore you can use less foundation. (Also look for a primer with a SPF as it will protect your skin in the sun).

Do not use thick foundations – opt for a tinted moisturiser or a light coverage foundation:
Even if you like to wear a full coverage foundation on a daily basis, if you are getting married in the heat a thick foundation will slide off your skin within hours. Use a pretty, light foundation over your face and should you still be worried about any imperfections, cover them after with a long-lasting concealer.

Make sure you have the correct shade of foundation:
Before you purchase your foundation, consider what your skin tone will be on the wedding day. Will you be spending much time at the location abroad before you actually get married? If the answer is yes, then do consider if you will have more of a tan on the wedding day than you do now. If you are likely to be more tanned, please take this in to account when purchasing your foundation. By opting for a lighter foundation it will make this dilemma easier, as sheerer formulations are more forgiving and you will find that your tan will glow through the tint of the foundation/ tinted moisturiser.

Use powder to keep shine at bay:
You should use a blotting powder where needed to set your makeup and make sure that you carry a compact with you to blot away any excess shine during the day.

Use a waterproof silicone blusher:
Choose a blusher which isn’t going to melt/ slide off the skin – Daniel Sandler’s iconic Watercolour Fluid Blusher is still the best on the market.

Don’t use too much shimmer:
A little bit of shimmer is fine, but don’t overdo the sparkle in your makeup as this will look way too shiny in your wedding photographs with the bright sunlight

Use waterproof / long-lasting formulations wherever possible:
Mascaras
Eyeliners
Crease-proof eyeshadows
Lipsticks

Most importantly – keep it natural and pretty!
Remember that the makeup you would wear for a night out, is not the makeup you should be wearing for a day time, hot wedding. Bright daylight is not the most flattering light to be photographed in and if you apply your makeup too heavy, it will not look good in your photographs – especially after a few hours in the heat! Think light, pretty, fresh natural colours which will enhance a tan and will photograph well in daylight.

And if you are getting married abroad – have a wonderful wedding day!

CHANEL Perfection Lumière Long-Wear Flawless Fluid SPF 10

Sunday, April 15th, 2012

There has been much press about the new foundation by CHANEL – the new Perfection Lumière is available and is an excellent choice for brides on their wedding day, as the formulation of this product is long wearing, very natural and for those brides who are concerned with oiliness/ shine on their skin, this product is perfect. Many foundations that are matte in texture tend to be very heavy and at times cakey, but this foundation is clever as it offers a lighter more natural look, but is slightly matte.

Perfection Lumière is the creation of a close collaboration between Peter Philips,
Creative Director of CHANEL Make Up, and the CHANEL Laboratories.
Painstaking work based on stringent rules that ensure the creation of a product
with exceptional qualities.

Its fluid, melt-away texture glides on with fingertips in the blink of an eye.
Its practical and refined pump bottle delivers just the right amount of product.
Its texture adapts to your skins needs.

The formula can be layered on without a hint of thickness, visibility or discomfort
to conceal localised redness or occasional blemishes.

With its 23 shades it suits everyone
CHANEL has never offered such a wide palette or taken the art of colour to this level.
These 23 hues come in four harmonies for a real tone-matching result.
All the shades of perfection.

A skin-embracing texture
At the heart of the formula lies a new technology: the Perfect Skin Affinity Complex.
This is a flexible and adhesive biopolymer that ideally takes the form of the skin and adapts
to its every movement, forming an invisible and comfortable second skin for impeccable hold.

Daylong hold
Multi-faceted hold from morning till night, for 15 hours straight:
radiance, colour, comfort and a subtle fragrance of succulent fruit,
fresh flowers and sweet musk.

A perfect balance
It isn’t easy to achieve a perfect balance between comfort and a matte finish,
but Perfection Lumière makes no compromises. Both moisturising and mattifying,
its semi-matte result is suitable for all skin types and all circumstances.

A complexion with incomparable perfection, translucency and radiance.
Not only flawlessly smoothed, but also without a hint of thickness. Not only evened out,
but also wonderfully luminous. Not only upon application, but all day long.

The new Daniel Sandler Invisible Radiance Foundation and Concealer – complexion perfection for all brides!

Friday, November 25th, 2011

The New Daniel Sandler Invisible Radiance Foundation and Concealer (£28)

The next generation of cosmetics has arrived!

And all brides-to-be who are looking for the PERFECT bridal foundation – look no further!

One of the UK’s best known makeup artists, Daniel Sandler is delighted to announce the latest edition to his existing cosmetics line; a foundation and concealer duo that invisibly transforms skin, delivering a clearer, smoother, more flawless, younger-looking finish (that cares!)

Used alone, the dewy-fresh fluid foundation feels as light as a feather on skin. Accompanied by a complimenting shade of concealer under the mirrored lid, this is your perfect weapon to disguise either under-eye darkness or blemishes. The duo forms the perfect partnership, avoiding the chore of hunting down a match to your base.

Daniel’s ingenious trick is to mix the foundation with the concealer for a more sophisticated finish, ideal for that day to night transition

Both formulas wear beautifully throughout the day, maintaining coverage for many hours, with added ingredients to keep all skin types soft, smooth, and healthy.

Invisible Veil foundation has a ‘caring cocktail’ of vitamins A, C & E to aid skin repair and renewal. The formula is Perfume, Oil and Paraben free.

The concealer has added Vitamin E as an Antioxidant and is also preservative and perfume free

I am known for the flawless, radiant skin I create for my brides on their wedding day and I am incredibly fussy about the formulations I choose to use. The excitement of opening this new bottle and first feeling the creamy (yet not greasy) texture of the concealer had me rushing to try the foundation itself and I can only describe the feeling and quality of this product as sophisticated, flawless and the dewy finish is like adding a youthful glow to your skin – this really is going to be the 2012 foundation for brides everywhere!

The model in the photograph above is wearing the Invisible Radiance Foundation and Concealer – I used it recently in a photo shoot.

If you love the look of her makeup, you can also re-create this whole bridal look, using Daniel Sandler Cosmetics – here is your step-by-step guide:

I applied the Re-texturising Primer all over the face to help the makeup stay flawless for longer.

Next, I took the new Invisible Radiance Foundation and Concealer and applied this pretty, dewy base all over the skin using the Base Brush and using the Concealer Brush, applied the Concealer where needed.

I then used the Watercolour Creme Rouge Bronzer in shade Riviera and applied to the cheekbones (using my fingers) and then applied the Watercolour Creme Rouge Blusher in shade Hush Pink to the apple of the cheeks to give the model her pretty bridal glow.

To set the makeup, I applied a small amount of the Invisible Blotting Powder using the Contour/Powder Brush to the T-Zone and the eyelids (to prevent eyeshadow from creasing).

To achieve the pretty, fresh eyes I created on the cover model, use three of the Sheer Satin Shadows. Using Eyeshadow Brush 1, apply Guilded Taupe from lash line to the contour and using the Smudger Brush, apply a small amount to the lower lashline. Then apply shade Champagne to the centre of the lid using Eyeshadow Brush 2 and then apply a tiny amount of shade Lingerie to the brow bone as a highlighter.

I applied the Velvet Waterproof Eyeliner in shade Velvet Brownto the upper lashline to give definition and to complete the look, I curled the lashes and applied several coats of the Baby Jet Mascarato the upper lashes, and one coat to the lower lashline.

For a gorgeous bridal pout, I used theLip Rouge in shade Dolce and for a pretty shine, I applied the Super Gloss in shade Super Pomegranate

Available in 4 shades:  Porcelain, Beige, Honey, Deep Sand

Strong smokey eye makeup for a bride – get the look

Thursday, September 29th, 2011

More and more brides are asking me to create a smokey, stronger eye makeup on their wedding day. Most of these brides though still want to keep the smokey eye more of a ‘bridal smoky eye’ , which is a softer version of what a call a ‘party smokey eye’!

There are some brides though, who love darker smokey eye makeup and wear a lot of eye makeup on a day to day basis and want to also wear a lot of eye makeup on their wedding day – all brides are different and it is absolutely fine to do this, but you have to use the correct products and application techniques, so that your eye makeup photographs well and stays on all day.

I created the makeup look in these photographs during a photoshoot I did with the fabulous photographer Rosie Parsons (www.rosieparsons.com) and it is a look that many brides who look through my portfolio say that they love, so here is the list of the exact products that I used on this photo shoot (which are all by Daniel Sandler Cosmetics are are available from www.danielsandler.com)

Re-texturising Face Primer apply all over face after moisturiser
Catwalk Compact Foundation applied with a foundation brush
Invisible Veil Loose Powder to set the base
Mineral Blusher in shade Hush Pink apply a small amount to the apple of the cheek

Eyes -ensure that you apply the loose face powder to the eyelids to create a ‘base’ and to avoid eyeshadows creasing.
Apply Cedar Matte eyeshadow from lash line to contour
Apply Dark Grey Matte Eyeshadow from lash line to contour (on top of the cedar) and then along the lower lashline
Then take the Sheer Satin Thunder Eyeshadow and apply on the eyelid to add a little shimmer to the eye and avoid the colour looking flat
Line the top and bottom lashline with the Velvet Waterproof Eyeliner in Black Velvet and also line the inner rim if you want to, for more definition
Curl your lashes and apply the Baby Jet Mascara

Make sure that you hold a tissue under your eye to catch any eyeshadow from dropping down and clean under the eye area after with your foundation brush

Luxury Lipstick in shade Pucker only apply a small amount to the lips, patting the product on with your finger tips and avoid lip gloss if possible – remember the focus it to be on the eyes

The smokey eye makeup look is a look that you are really going to need to practise. Remember, you will be having photographs taken in daylight as well as indoors after, so it is really important to make sure that the makeup is perfect – also have to hand cotton buds to soften any hard lines and blend your eye makeup well. I would also recommend taking photographs of your makeup after you have practised, so you can see how it looks on film.

Get the makeup look – Rainbow Couture 2011

Sunday, July 10th, 2011

Last year, I was the makeup artist for the Rainbow Couture 2011 campaign – an exciting shoot shot in a gorgeous location house in London.

Rainbow shoes have several ranges of shoes and the Couture range is an exciting and glamorous new range of shoes, inspired by the allure of the catwalk. The collection combines sensual silk satin and shimmering crystals, with contemporary fashion and beautiful detailing.

Couture-67

If you are a bride who loves a modern makeup look and wants to re-create the striking makeup look I designed for this campaign, these are the products I used:

1) After applying a light moisturiser to the skin, I applied the Daniel Sandler Re-texturising Primer all over the face.

2) I created a flawless complexion using Chanel Pro Lumiere Foundation, followed with the Lancome Effacernes Concealer to cover any imperfections and I set the base using the Daniel Sandler Blotting Powder.

3) On the cheeks, I used one colour of blusher – a small amount of the Daniel Sandler pressed blusher in shade whisper was enough for a gentle glow (don’t use too much though, as the eyes and lips are the main part of this look)

4) The eyes were strong for this look – I used the Lancome Ombre Absolu Duo eyeshadow in shade G01 and I applied the light shade to the brow bone and the soft black shadow to the eyelid. Top tip – when applying black eyeshadow, hold a tissue under your eye to catch any ‘drop down’ and always apply a small amount first and build up to get the intensity you want. Line the eyes using the Daniel Sandler Velvet Waterproof Eyeliner is shade Black Velvet – I lined the eye along the top lash line, the bottom lash line and also in the inner lower rim (avoid the inner rim if you want the look to be more natural).

5) Mascara – always black – I used the Estee Lauder Double Wear Zero Smudge Lengthening  Mascara

6) To complete this look, I used the Daniel Sandler High Impact Lipstick in Peony on the lips, but rather than applying it with a lip brush, I patted it on to the lips with my finger, so it created more of a soft stain of colour.
