CLARINS new MOSAIQUE Summer Makeup Collection

Monday, July 25th, 2011

The new 2011 summer makeup collection from Clarins is so pretty – soft pretty colours which brides-to-be can easily use on their wedding day.

The 3 key products which brides will love starts with the gorgeous Limited Edition Mosaique Summer Bronzing Compact SPF10 (RRP £26). When I opened this compact, I couldn’t believe how big the compact was and how much product you are getting for your money!

Bronzer

What impresses me most about this bronzer is the soft tones that the colours create – there is nothing worse than a bride who uses a bronzer which is too dark or too orange on her wedding day – against a light coloured wedding dress it can photograph too dark or too orange. You won’t get that with this product, it gives a pretty golden glow to the skin.

The next product from this collection is the new Colour Quench Lip Balm(£15) – again you get a lot of product for your money, there is a lot of gloss in each tube and don’t worry about it being too sticky – you will not get that with this product, the gloss is not too thick and it comes in a range of eight pretty shades. It also has a delicious cherry scent and flavour, which I love!

Also in the collection is the gorgeous Instant Smooth Crystal Lip Balm (RRP £16.50)

This lip balm leaves your lips feeling like silk! I’ve been wearing this every day (with or without wearing lipstick or gloss), as it’s the silkiest feeling lip balm i’ve ever used!  This gorgeous product comes in 3 shades and has the subtle colour of a sheer lipstick, the comfort of a lip balm and has the shape and smooth application of a classic lipstick bullet.

For all of those brides-to-be who do not like the idea of wearing lipstick, wear the lip balm with the pretty gloss over the top. All 3 of these beautiful products are perfect not only for your wedding day, but also to take away with you on your honeymoon to enhance a summer tan.

The products are available nationwide now and from http://uk.clarins.com

GUERLAIN TERRA INCA summer 2011 collection – the perfect makeup products for your honeymoon

Monday, June 27th, 2011

The 2011 summer colour collection from Guerlain celebrates the arrival of summer with an extremely colourful and chic Terracotta Collection – ocean blue, flamboyant orange, ardent browns – an ultra-trendy and absolutely fashionable collection of products.

I have already fallen in love with the Guerlain Terracotta Collection for 2011 – a few months ago I discovered the Terracotta Skin Healthy Glow Foundation (RRP £33), which is a unique, skin perfecting product unlike any other I have tried before. The texture of this product is a powdery fluid cream which is very lightweight and extremely fine. It perfects, corrects and evens out the skin tone, whilst illuminating with a subtle glow. It comes in 2 shades, 01 blondes and 02 brunettes.

I do have a tan at the moment, so this tint gives a gorgeous glow to my skin and I only need to use a tiny amount. I immediately thought about brides on their honeymoon – if you know you are going to have a tan and don’t want to wear your normal foundation (as that will be too thick), this is a gorgeous alternative to perfect your skin and tan perfectly – I love this product!

So, after wearing this product for the last month, when I saw the new summer colour collection, I thought that these new products, along with the Healthy Glow Foundation, would make the most beautiful makeup kit for a honeymoon/ holiday abroad – you could take these products with you and they would be all that you need to enhance your beautiful tan in the evenings.

Other products in this gorgeous collection include:

TERRA INCA – Sublime radiant powder (for face and body) – £42

TERRA INDIGO – 4 shade eyeshadow – £37

TERRACOTA KHOL KAJAL – £23

OMBRE FUSION CREAM EYESHADOW – Metallic effect, water-resistant – £20.50

TERRACOTTA GLOSS – Moisturising Gloss, sheer shine and finish

All of these products are absolutely gorgeous and together, make a beautiful holiday makeup kit.

The Daniel Sandler Watercolour Creme Bronzer – my favourite Creme Bronzer

Monday, June 13th, 2011

The Daniel Sandler Watercolour Creme Bronzer in shade Riviera (RRp £17.50) is the most beautiful, sophisticated way to wear Creme Bronzer on your face. Not only is it an essential ‘kit box’ product for me as a working makeup artist, it is also an essential product for my personal makeup collection – I have stocked up on this product as I cannot be without it!

Daniel Sandler’s limited edition Watercolour Crème Bronzer is a unique formula to highlight, contour and define the face, leaving you with a gorgeous, expensive-looking glow – and the gorgeous Riviera shade is exclusive to www.escentual.com and www.beautique.com

Daniel’s tip: “I recommend blending a small amount of product onto cheekbones, bridge of nose and eye lids with finger tips, then step back from the mirror. The result will flatter and beguile you!”

It can also be used as a lip colour – simply apply to lips with a finger or brush, and then add a clear gloss for a luxe summer look.

Unlike other bronzers, Daniel’s Watercolour Creme Bronzer has a light creamy, blend-able texture and is used to highlight and contour the face, rather than create an all over colour. Not too orange or too gold, it is perfect for those who crave beautiful and natural-looking warmth. Your complexion is immediately enlivened with subtle highlights that catch the light and work to sculpt and illuminate the face.

The incredibly easy to use formulation blends easily with your finger’s lightest touch, and has a long-lasting satin finish that is non-greasy and versatile. It can be applied to specific areas such as the cheekbones, or can be mixed with your liquid base to add warmth to your foundation all summer long. If you want to keep your tan looking beautiful for longer, mix with moisturiser and then use to add warmth to your face and décolleté.

This product is unlike any other creme bronzer I have used in the past – I absolutely adore this product and have been using it on all of my photo shoots and real-life brides, it is so wearable and suits all skin tones.

I love applying this product to my cheekbones and to complete the look I then apply Daniel’s Creme Rouge Blusher in shade Hush Pink to the apple of my cheeks for a smooth, sophisticated, pretty look to my skin.

Radiant skin in ‘One hot minute’ by Benefit

Wednesday, October 20th, 2010

This loose rose-gold finishing powder is the final touch for your décolleté on your wedding day.

I would not normally recommend a dark bronzer on your body, as it is a risk that you could drop the product on your dress. There is always the risk of this with any makeup (as there could be with this one if you use it incorrectly), but the divine, pretty shimmer that this product gives is so beautiful – if applied correctly will give your skin the prettiest glow and finish to your skin.

The product is not orange at all – it really has a classy, rose gold tone to it. You can use it on the face as well, but I prefer not to use too much shimmer on the face on a wedding day as the flash photography can make it look even brighter.

I prefer to use this product on the décolleté – I apply the tiniest amount to the brush and blow off any excess – AWAY FROM THE WEDDING DRESS!!! Then, I gently apply the product just where needed, just before the bride leaves and again I stress to apply the tiniest amount, so as not to get any product on your wedding dress.

One hot minute, priced at £23.50 from www.benefitcosmetics.co.uk

Get the look – Rainbow Club Else 2011 Collection

Thursday, October 7th, 2010

I have recently been creating the makeup looks on several photo shoots for the Rainbow Club Shoe company.

Rainbow Club have been designing, making and colouring handmade satin wedding shoes since the mid 1980s and they are now firmly established as the UK’s leading and most inspirational producers. Each pair of  wedding shoes are handmade using only the best components, from their exclusive dyeable satins to their Swarovski buckles and embellishments.

Rainbow Club today remains the original and best makers of bridal footwear.

Designing makeup looks for their 2011 campaign was an absolute pleasure - the Rainbow Club team are fabulous and being surrounded by so many gorgeous shoes was so much fun – the Rainbow Club shoes really are beautiful! If you haven’t yet selected your bridal shoes, I would highly recommend looking at their website.

Rainbow Club has different ranges of shoes and the makeup look that I am going to talk about first is the look I created for the Else range, which is a gorgeous wedding shoe collection inspired by younger high-street fashion and affordability. It features embellished sandals, peep toe t-bars, bejewelled pumps and sky-high platform sandals.

The Else range is all about pretty, fresh, modern brides and this was something that I took into account with the makeup look.

If you love this look, here are the products that I used:

Primer: Clarins Flash Beauty Balm
Foundation: CHANEL Pro Lumiere
Concealer: Clinique Airbrush Concealer
Powder: Daniel Sandler Invisible Blotting Powder
Contour: Daniel Sandler Bronzer in Brazilian Bronze
Blush: Daniel Sandler Watercolour Blush in Cherub
Eyes: CHANEL Mystic Eyes Eyeshadow Quad (I used the pink shade on the lid, the silvery grey as a highlighter on the brow bone and a small amount of the dark brown shade in the contour and under the lower lashes).
I line the top lashline with the Smashbox Cream Liner in black, curled the lashes and then applied several coats of the Daniel Sandler Baby Jet Mascara.
Lips: I used 2 lipsticks, first the Daniel Sandler Luxury Lipstick in Pucker and then on top, I patted on the Daniel Sandler High Impact Lipstick in Azalea.Daniel Sandler: www.danielsandler.com

New Brandied Bronze – Clinique Summer 2010

Wednesday, May 12th, 2010

New Brandied Bronze, Clinique’s newest Summer 2010 colour collection evokes the sexiness of hot summer days and nights. Top tip – how to define your cheekbones

Thursday, March 25th, 2010

Applying a pretty coloured blusher to the apple of your cheeks is perfect for a beautiful bridal glow, but when I apply makeup for a bride, I always contour her cheekbones as it looks stunning in wedding photographs. If you look at the above photograph, not only can see the pretty pink blusher on the apple of her cheek, but if you look at the hollow of her cheek you will see the contour that I applied, which makes her cheekbones look more chiseled and more glamorous.

These are my step by step instructions as to how to contour your cheekbones and these are the exact products that I use:

1) Use the correct brush. I use the Daniel Sandler Contour/ Powder Brush (RRP £15, www.danielsandler.com)

2) Use a matte powder to contour your cheekbones – never a shimmery product. I love using the Daniel Sandler Bronzer Duo (£21, www.danielsandler.com). The great thing about this product is that it has two products in the compact, which can be used alone or together. The product is spilt into two sides – one side of the product has a slight shimmer and the other side is matte. This matte side is perfect for contouring with the above brush and you can then also swirl a large brush over both of the colours and use it as a bronzer after!

3) To apply this product to the contour of your cheeks, sweep the brush over the matte side of the bronzer and then tap off the excess. Suck in your cheekbones and along the hollow line (which runs roughly from the outer corner of your mouth upwards and outwards towards your hairline), apply a light coverage of this bronzer. Don’t overdo it with product, you are looking to create a light shadow, rather than a heavy ’stripe’ of product. Should you apply a bit too much, apply some translucent loose powder over the top to soften.
